Alfonzo Shade

Alfonzo Shade is the Director of Partnerships and Community Initiatives for Charles Drew Health Center, Inc., Nebraska’s first Federally Qualified Health Center. He has contributed his experience and activism to the Omaha community for over 15 years to build professional relationships and successful partnerships that positively impact health outcomes in the culturally diverse community of Douglas County.

Mr. Shade’s attitude and solution-driven approaches to promote health equity are at the core of his work to help individuals, families, and community agencies network to reduce gaps in health. He has been recognized for his leadership in facilitating networking between local/state community organizations and individuals/families throughout Nebraska. He was a recipient of the Midlands Business Journal “40 Under 40” award in 2013.

Mr. Shade also serves as chair of the Nebraska Statewide Minority Health Council; a member of the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services Office of Health Disparities and Health Equity Advisory Committee; co-chair of the Omaha Public School District African American Achievement Council; a board member of the Center for Holistic Development; and a deacon with Westside Church. In his previous position as Supervisor of Government Programs and Outreach at Aetna Better Health of Nebraska (formerly CoventryCares), he developed a Medicaid outreach operations model that directly contributed to more than 100,000 Nebraskans receiving healthcare management services through Aetna.

Mr. Shade resides in Omaha with his wife of 17 years (Dr. Marcia Y. Shade) and his children (Alexis and Alfonzo Shade, Jr.) He enjoys playing board games, spending time with his family, and engaging in fireside chats with his friends.
